Many children have dreamt of building or camping out in a treehouse out in the woods when growing up. Some communities traditionally live in treehouses, and popular culture has made treehouse building a father-son bonding activity while growing up. In Korea, most people are familiar with treehouses in movies or dramas, though treehouse building has not been a part of Korean Culture. However, with the recent camping/glamping trend, more people are looking for unique luxurious stay experiences while immersed in nature. Having assisted foreigners in Korea with booking pensions/hotels and glamping spots, Wonderful has come up with a list of the Top 7 Treehouse Pensions and Restaurants available in Korea. We are always available to help with booking and planning your trip, saving you time to do the things you love.
Having been around for 40 years, the Pyeongtaek Treehouse is the ideal romantic getaway for those looking to break from the city life for a day. Immersed in a surreal forest environment, the treehouse gives a lord of the rings vibe with the wooden cabins half hidden in trees lit by ambient garden lights.
These days the Pyeongtaek treehouse is only available for day time bookings, from 10am to 10pm, and each unit has a limit to the number of people staying (around 5) so it might be ideal for a short romantic getaway with your partner or a party with friends and family.
If you are looking for a place that offers an overnight stay, then this might be an option to consider. Sort of like a raised cabin, its location is ideal if you are looking for a place away from city life. The best part of this cabin is the environment, as it is near the Baekamsan Mountain and has a waterfall and a valley nearby. If you are a lover of nature and hiking you would definitely love this cabin.
Here is another elevated cabin for the avid hiker. With rolling hills as a picturesque backdrop, you have no shortage of hiking options during your stay here. From Baekhasan, Hyangro-bong, Nogoseong, there are plenty of hills "to sink your feet into" during your break. Additionally, the view of the surrounding hills is gorgeous from inside your cabin.
The Yongin Recreational Forest has some treehouses for those who are staying at their campsite. While you are not able to sleep at the treehouse itself, you are able to explore the treehouse as well as the rest of the beautiful Recreational Forest facilities and grounds. They offer a guided tour of the forest, a children's play ground a wetlands observation area etc.
Ground hue is one of the most beautiful hotels in the Gapyeong area, especially at night. The hotel/café has a gorgeous garden area with beautiful garden lights, a large soccer field, actual treehouses and a river with crystal clear water bordering the compound. The treehouses are not made to be slept in though, but they are an awesome getaway for the kids as they are actually perched on a tree. If you are not staying at the hotel, you would need to pay an entrance fee at the café, though the hotel might be worth your while.
If you are looking for a legitimate tree house café then this place might be what you are looking for. Located just outside Gunsan, this is a family-run café that was built and is operated by a Japanese immigrant and his Korean wife. Reminiscent of "Howls Moving Castle" the tree house was built to give the feeling of a moving treehouse among lovers. They also have an adjacent 'house café' in case the tree house is full. They offer a lovely hand drip coffee, and also provide tea experience workshops, wood workshops, etc.
If you really do not have time to travel far outside Seoul, but have an itch to see a treehouse, there is one café near Sungsu Station that might have what you need. The Grandpa Factory is a beautiful and spacious café that has a small treehouse connected to the main café building that you can access. The café itself has been host to the filming of several Korean dramas such as Vincenzo episode 4 and 7.
