Wonderful has been assisting many clients from outside Korea, to sign up for local fan sign events with K-pop artists, by double checking and translating the participation rules, ensuring their information is entered correctly, double checking with the stores to ensure their information is accurate, purchasing and receiving the album, and where necessary, even helping with disposing of extra albums to save on shipping. Based on our years of experience with these events, we wanted to share what we had learnt on how to increase you can increase your chances of winning a K-pop video call event. We really hope these tips work for you. 😁

1. Join the official fancafe/Daum cafe.

Most idols have a fancafe on the Korean platform Daum. This is basically a blog where fans can get up to date information on an artists performances, schedule, fan events, promotions etc. These are typically managed by the artists entertainment company, so you are sure to get the most recent fansign schedule from here.

2. Follow Artists/Entertainment Companies on Social Media

Another great way to keep updated on the latest fansign events would be to follow your artists on their official Facebook/twitter channels, or follow the entertainment companies to know when the latest event is taking place. Most fansign events have a limited period when the albums can be purchased, and they typically do not give an advance notice on those dates.

3. Research on Previous Artist Fansign Events

Many fansign events require you to purchase an album to get an lottery entry to win. It would stand to reason that the more albums you purchase, the higher the chances of getting in, right? However, most fans are on a limited budget, so you need to have an idea of how many albums you should get to get a reasonable chance to win the event, which is why it is a good idea to check on sites like reddit, or even the fancafe fan boards, to see how many albums previous winners purchased. We have helped our clients win fansign events for artists such as Day 6, Sechskies, IzOne, WekiMeki, APink.. just to name a few, and we found that the number of albums typically depends on the artists popularity. For some artists 100 albums would give you a decent chance while for most around 20 albums or more would give you a good chance.

4. Fansign Event Websites

Typically, once an album release is announced, and the fansign event is announced, the official notice would have a list of the different websites where you can participate in the event. The great news is since each of these events is considered separate, you can get to participate multiple times and if you win, get multiple chances to have a chat with your K-pop idol! You can even start telling a story, and finish it in the next two video chats events, just to be creative. 😂 We also noticed that different websites might release their event information on different dates, so keeping tabs on the notifications is a good idea. So far we know that the following websites run frequent fan sign events : Apple Music, Synnara, Mihwadang , Joeun Music and DMC Music. Also, if you fail one fansign event, you can always plan to purchase more albums, for the next.

5. Read the Participating Instructions

For most events, the instructions are the same, if not similar, i.e. you need to input the correct name and date of birth as is on your passport, you need to use your overseas phone number, you need to input your Kakao Talk or Line id.. etc. One major thing we look for is whether they allow for 대리구매 or purchasing via agent. Basically, this allows for a service like us to purchase the albums with our own accounts, but just input your details in the participation form. If a website does not allow for this, we can still help, by making one using your details, or purchasing under a guest account. We can process the payment on your behalf and have them shipped to our office to save on overseas shipping fees. Some events do not have an English page, so Wonderful can help translate the details for you.

6. Shipping and Handling

The last part of your participating is the shipping bit. If you are living in Korea, or have a shipping and forwarding service that you use, then that would be fine to have them shipped there. As your personal assistant, Wonderful can do with your shipments, for example, if you need us to ship the photocards, and the postcards with a faster shipping option, while the albums are shipped with a slower shipping option, we can assist with that. Or if you have too many albums and need help with separating the photos and gift items, then disposing of the rest of the items, we can assist with that.** (Extra disposal costs might be involved depending on the quantity). Regardless, Wonderful would be happy to assist with saving costs and making the experience as seamless as possible.

While luck does have a role in winning these events, our experience has shown us that there is still a lot you can do to raise the odds in your favor. Most of the clients we help participate in fansign events win so we think these tips will certainly help! ☺
