Foreigners Guide to Selling Items in Korea with Wonderful
Leaving Korea in a hurry and looking to sell your car? Need to get rid of good quality furniture/electric appliances but do not want to just throw them away? Want to trade/sell some of your K-pop merchandise? If you have faced any of these situations or are simply looking to sell something in Korea, then this guide might be useful for you. We have assisted with hundreds of selling requests and are happy to help if you do not know where to start.
Furniture and Electric Appliances
If the items are in good condition (no signs of wear/almost new) then we can look for recycling centers in your area. They buy used furniture/appliances and then resell them. The price they typically offer depends on the item’s condition, and in the case of electric appliances, the date of manufacture. They usually do not give much for furniture, but it’s still better than simply throwing it away because item disposal costs money in Korea. Alternatively, we can also make a selling post on “buy and sell” communities, screen and redirect the buyers to you. If you need our assistance, we would need photos of the items from different angles, and in the case of electric appliances, we would also need a photo of the sticker with the model information.
Fashion/Luxury Items
If you are looking to sell high end fashion items such as jewelry, Rolex watches, Chanel bags, sunglasses, wallet etc., there are luxury item re-sellers like Gugus that have stores all over Korea. Our assistants can help look for the closest store to your address of residence. You would typically need to bring the items directly to the store for the manager to appraise the items. Alternatively, if you have a list of high cost luxury items, you can send us a list and we could request for an attendant to visit your home and do an appraisal there.
K-pop Merchandise
When it comes to selling any type of K-pop merchandise (photos, albums, posters etc.) Bunjang is arguably the biggest free market platform in Korea. The tricky bit about the platform is that it requires you to have a Korean phone number in order to make an account and post. If you send us photos of what you would like to sell, provide details (including the available method of payment), shipment arrangements and other important information, we can put up a post on your behalf and leave your contact details (email, kakao etc) for potential buyers to contact you directly. If at any point you experience difficulties with communication, we can assist with negotiating with the buyer on your behalf as well.
When selling items through Bunjang or Jungonara, we recommend accepting payments from buyers directly via wire transfer if you have a Korean bank account, or Paypal if you do not.
Car
Regarding selling cars, our assistants can look for car vendors through the Korean used car dealer association and arrange for one to visit your place and appraise your car. Based on the quote, you would then decide if you would like to proceed with the transaction. Same as with furniture, we can also make posts on "buy and sell" groups and help negotiate with potential buyers.
Please note that when it comes to selling any items, we would be unable to receive funds from buyers on your behalf. We can only assist with locating buyers and communication. If you need help with selling any other items that are not in this list, we are always up for the challenge. ( Provided it is realistic 😊 )
