Travel to Korea | Korea Ferry Adventures
For those looking to have an awesome Korean ferry trip this summer, now is the time to start making plans. Wonderful would like to give some tips and suggestions on ferry adventures you might want to try. When mentioning ferries in Korea, most of you will probably think of the famous Ulleungdo Island or Jeju Island ferries. I bet anyone who has visited Korea would have definitely heard of Dokdo as well. While these are islands with beautiful scenery and historical significance, you would be forgiven for thinking that these are the only islands worth visiting in Korea. However, Korea is home to more than 3,000 islands, most of which can be reached via Ferry and many of which are unknown to the average traveler. We would like to highlight a number of Ferry adventures that we think should be on your itinerary this summer. Feel free to message Wonderful for more information regarding the trips.
Hongdo Island Rather than take the regularly used ferry to Jeju, if you are in the south, why not visit Hongdo Island? Hongdo has one of the most beautiful rock formations in Korea, and does not have too many visitors, which might be better for those who dislike crowds. There are a number of rock structures and caves dotting the coastline that are worth exploring.
A ferry trip to this island will cost you about 80$ from Mokpo City and will take about 2 and a half hours either way. If you like, you could get accommodation on the island as well.
Biyangdo Island Being the last formed volcanic island in Jeju, it has a very beautiful coast line with beautiful volcanic formations on the shore.
There are ferries that run from Jeju Island to this small island that cost as little as 10$ for a round trip. We would suggest getting accommodation on Jeju Island as the island is small enough to explore within a day.
International Ferry Trips If you are a sea lover and would like to spend more time at sea, we would suggest going on an international sea ferry adventure. Most people think of Japan when they hear about international ferries from Korea. You would be surprised to know that there are more ferry companies going to China from Korea than from Korea to Japan. From Incheon International sea port and from Pyeongtaek International sea port, you can go to ports in China such as Dandong, Dalain, Yingkou, Qinhuangdao, Yantai, Shi dao, Lianyungang, Weihai, Qingdao, Tianjin and Rizhao. For Japan, there are a number of ferry options that go to multiple sea ports and cities on Japan's coast line. The most famous of course is Fukuoka and Osaka. However, there are ferries that go to Shimonoseki, Izuhara, Hitachi and Sakaiminato as well.
The most surprising ferry trip that not many people know about is Russia. Yes, you can catch a ferry going to Vladivostok, that arrives within 24 hours. The ship has a restaurant, a night club, a bar, a karaoke room, a sauna, a duty free shop and a convenience store. They have rooms that you can rent, from a presidential suite to shared economy rooms.
