Updated: Dec 12

Have you ever needed to send documents or items from one location to another in Korea but just didn't know how to? For most foreigners, the idea that a service exists that can quickly send documents/items on demand has never crossed their mind. Typically most foreigners would resort to using a taxi or public transit when transporting documents/items/boxes, resulting in lots of wasted time and headaches.

However, unknown to most foreigners, there are actually a variety of ways you can get documents/boxes or items sent from one place to another, without you having to go with the items. At Wonderful, we have handled thousands of requests that require delivery and assisted many foreigners have items delivered in almost all parts of Korea. Based on our experience, we have realized that we are able to summarize available delivery methods in Korea to a list of 7, namely: Damas quick service (다마스퀵) , Motorbike quick service (오토바이퀵) , Subway quick service (지하철퀵) , Regular moving service (이사서비스) , Regular Post Delivery (일반 등기 택배) , Registered Post Delivery (익일특급등기 택배/빠른등기 택배) and Regular Parcel Delivery (일반 소포 택배). In this article, we will try and give a summary and a quick comparison of the delivery methods.

Motorbike quick service (오토바이퀵) : As the name suggests these are on demand delivery services that use motorbikes when shipping items. They are the most common on demand delivery option and are most frequently used for food orders. While typically fast, they are not ideal for shipping fragile items.

Damas quick service (다마스퀵) : Like the motorbike quick service, these are also on demand delivery services. However, they use small cars, vans or small trucks when shipping items that are unable to fit on a motorbike or are too fragile for motorbike delivery. They tend to cost more than the motorbike quick services.

Subway quick service (지하철퀵) : These are also on-demand delivery services, however, they use regular couriers who hand deliver small items such as important personal documents like passports or fragile and expensive items. These couriers use public transportation when ferrying the items, hence the name. These tend to cost the least among the quick service options, but are slower than the other ones.

Regular moving service (이사서비스) : These are shipping services that typically charge a premium price and use specialized moving trucks to ship various items. We recommend these when moving with a lot of items as they are more professional and can be cost effective.

Regular Post Delivery (일반 등기 택배) : This is the regular delivery of documents and letters via the Korean postal system.

Registered Post Delivery (익일특급등기 택배/빠른등기 택배) : While this uses the Korean Postal System, documents/letters shipped using this method get higher priority than the regular post delivery option. Typically items sent using this method arrive by the next business day. They also require that an adult is present to sign for the items on delivery, otherwise the items would be returned to the post office.

Regular Parcel Delivery (일반 소포 택배) : This is the term used for delivery of boxes and parcels using the Korean Postal System. This is different from the regular post delivery service, which only applies to letters or documents. Packages are typically shipped within one or two business days.
